Its Been a While: Insta-Reply

Hope you had a great weekend.  As I mentioned Friday, my post-college roommate and her husband and son were in town from New Jersey, their first visit and her first time back to Cali in 10 years.  It was indeed like no time had passed, except that we both have husbands and toddlers now.  We couldn't have ordered nicer weather, and we spend Saturday morning in Santa Monica at the pier, and Sunday morning at a local park.  The boys had fun together, and it was great being able to catch up.

Last time we came to the pier, my son was afraid of the waves. This time he was showing them off (mine's the one in stripes.)

This past week we also took my son to Disneyland for the first time.  He's 2.5 and I would say only beginning to be old enough for that kind of place, though I saw so many kids that were clearly younger than him.  We got there when it opened, managed a couple rides before lunch then had to go to our hotel for nap (we all took one, for almost 3 hours!), then trooped back to the park until closing.  Despite saying he wanted to see Mickey and Goofy, he was not happy when he was up close (I could have guessed that would be the reaction, but we encouraged his initial braveness.)

Goofy couldn't even get a hi-5 out of him.

If you follow me on Snapchat (@edstilettos) you saw I was able to attend a fun girls night at Blushington Make-Up and Beauty Lounge in West Hollywood. They hosted a group of bloggers gals and treated us to a sampling of their services, with champagne and sweet treats on the side.  If you are in LA or Dallas or NYC, check them out for affordable and wearable makeup looks.

My finished look of the night. I told the MUA to just have fun, and that I typically like to play up my eyes.  Without the false lashes, I would totally wear this look on a regular day. Bronze smokey eye and the perfect nude lip.

They have developed their own makeup line as well with some great products (the above perfect nude lip color was one of their own.)

This teddy bear is one of the most special ever.  This week marks the year anniversary of my grandma's passing (my mom's mom.)  The hospice organization that cared for her in her final days has volunteers that create these teddy bears out of selected items of the departed's clothing.  This bear is made out of one of my grandma's spring jackets I remember her wearing a lot (she was a minimalist when it came to her closet contents), and it is now a tangible connection to my grandma that I will cherish forever.
