I am Sill Alive!!!

Hi, you guys! I’m backI I know, it’s been a long time; you probably thought I’d given up on this blog. Honestly, I sort of had for a while. Had baby number 2 in 2017, and priorities with lack of time just meant this fell by the wayside. And honestly, I my content here didn’t matter to me anymore. My priorities changed and what I was wearing and how I was shopping felt very trivial to me. Not that I don’t still love to get dressed and go shopping, but, like I said: priorities.

Then we bought a new house, and COVID locked us all at home 24/7 and the kids are getting older and more independent and I needed to start doing things that I wanted to do for myself again. And I wanted to fix up place in my home and personalize them, and I thought: I can do what I want done, why pay someone else? So I started planning the remodel of our downstairs half bath. It took months of planning, because I wanted to be sure to not overlook anything and I had to learn how to do things and I’m terrible at making the decision on the final style I want to commit to, but I finally figured it out and put my plan in motion (of course this was AFTER all the lumber prices had skyrocketed; go figure.) But it was still cheaper than hiring someone else, and now I’m hooked on DIY.

I’ve always been artsy and crafty - I have a BA in fine art - but have never taken on projects to the scale I am now, and never used power tools other than a drill. But I’ve been adding to my power tool collection, and with the help of a borrowed miter saw, I built drawers and a new vanity and cupboard, added shiplap to the wall, scraped the ceiling and skim coated all the walls, moved electrical wiring, hung wallpaper, resurfaced the counter with epoxy, changed a faucet, etc (i’ll get up a separate blog post about it in a bit), and now I feel like I can learn anything.

So this blog is shifting from heavy fashion emphasis to home decor and DIY emphasis. I would love to have you along on this journey as I discover and experiment and push myself outside my comfort zone. Thanks for tuning in!!
