You Found Me in a Blue Maxi

Hello there! I've been MIA lately, I know, I'm sorry.  I had a little post-holiday productivity slump, and the weather and my schedule were not cooperating to get any images taken. We needed the rain, but it makes shooting outside a bit difficult.  But now I'm back!

Hope the first couple weeks of 2016 have been treating you well.   I'm always thankful for the long weekend that MLK Jr. Day provides shortly after the new year, because sometimes it seems like the holidays come to an abrupt end after the 1st. With all the various holidays and short weeks that seem to occur regularly beginning Thanksgiving, I feel like I need to be eased back into the regular grind of 5 day work weeks, LOL.  In fact, I think there should be at least one 3-day weekend every month. Just because.  (Really I wish all weekends were 3 days long. Who wants to sign my petition for that?)

I am also thankful that we honor someone like Martin Luther King, Jr., who devoted himself to the purpose of a better world, where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.  I was raised in a color-blind household, and had a rainbow of friends growing up (and still do.) Most of the couples we are friends with now are interracial, and to me and the community I associate with, that is not even something to bat an eye at.  However, it saddens me that we still live in a world where people are still judged by the color of their skin.  It dawned on me one day, that I was thankful that my son, who is 1/4 black, looks white, and the world will see him as white, and that will be a good thing for him.  It should not be a thing at all.  We  will not raise him to think it is an issue, but we have no control over the rest of the world.  I think Dr. King would be very happy with much of the progress, but if he were still with us, no doubt he would still be fighting and preaching, for so much still needs to be done.

This dress is an easy, throw on and go look, and almost like going out in your jammies, LOL.  It is very soft and light, and you could throw a sweater over it for the cool days (with some black boots?), or layer it over your swimsuit for a beach day (probably not right now.)
