Your Perfect Shade...

Happy Monday! (Is that an oxymoron?) Regardless of how you feel about today, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I had some fun this weekend trying out a nifty new app: Plum Perfect. (Free from iTunes, I'm assuming it's free for Android as well.)  Have you ever spent your hard-earned money on a new make-up item that looks great in the tube, only to get home and try it on and have it look horrid with your complexion? Or, with all the shopping we do on-line now, buy a color that on screen look like it will be great, then have it arrive and not so much?  With this app, you take a photo of your face (your "I Woke Up Like This" look is good, as you can see below - ha ha), or you can upload one from your phone, and the app will analyze your skin tone, eye, lip and hair colors.  To get the most accurate read, use a photo where you don't have any make-up all ready on (that should be pretty obvious for these purposes) and bright, non-shadowy natural light is best.

After about 60 seconds of "thinking", the app will provide you with your "Color Signature" for your review, and if you think something is way off, you can tweak.  Once you think the color signature is accurate, the app will then make suggestions for eye, face, and lip products are the rights shades for your coloring and complexion.

There are then additional customizations you can make to the search results: skin type, skin issues, product price, etc.  They recommend wallet-friendly brands available at Target, up through Sephora, Macy's and Nieman Marcus (to name a few.)

The app will also provide you with complete color combinations for complete looks: natural, office, or glam; and if you don't like the first suggestion, you can have it mix a new one.

I'm going to try a couple of the budget-friendly product suggestions and see how accurate this fun little app actually is.  I'm always on the look out for the perfect lip and cheek shades, so this should be fun.

The website also shows that you can upload clothing items for outfit ideas, and take room photos for home decorating ideas. I plan on giving both of those a try as well.  Will keep you posted.

Have fun!
